We’ve talked a lot about writing new content for your website and how important it is to keep your information updated and deliver that information into the hands of your clients. Well one way you can make it easy for your clients is to give them the ability to listen to your information via a podcast, a daily digest would be a great idea.

So the first thing that you have to do is create your podcast. This is actually quite simple and to make it as easy as we can we have chosen two methods.

  1. You can either download some software for free, the easiest by far is this one from NCH. Simply download it to your PC or Mac and get started (Of course you will need a headset or mic!!)
  2. If you sign up for Soundcloud.com they have the ability to record straight from their website. Just hit the record button and start speaking – job done!

There are of course automated packages that will just read your blog posts, we don’t advise you use these as they tend to sound like a robot and they can’t inject humour or go off script if something comes into your mind. If its your blog post then you should read it and seriously it only takes 5 minutes (as long as the phone doesn’t ring!)

Soundcloud then offers you the hosting platform for your podcasts, if you used the platform to record then all you need to do is fill out the title and description, add an image and you have your podcast. If you have used the software on your machine then you can upload that straight into Soundcloud (or other host of your choice) and you’ll get the same result.

With Soundcloud you have the opportunity to put your podcasts into sets so that you can group them together in a common theme, again making it easier for your audience to listen to just the podcasts that they are interested in.

Each of the hosting platforms of course give you the ability to share your podcast with your Social Media Audience, simply hook up your twitter, pinterest, facebook and Google+ account and hit share.

and of course.. you can simply paste it into your written blog so users know they can listen instead… go on – turn up the volume!
