Well its all change again on the Google front but this time they are focusing on Google Maps. They have opened the new interactive display to all users to create a more personalised view of the world for you with every local search. This new display requires the user to be more in control of the results they chose and it will completely remove the directory type of listing we have all become accustomed to.

Now users are more in control of what they see, they can sort by users in their circles or top reviews bringing the importance of good reviews and Google+ into the forefront of importance. With the new rules businesses with more Google+ interaction and more reviews will get more exposure than those without. This is just another step towards Google forcing businesses to use its social media platform over and above others out there.

For now we strongly suggest

  1. Make sure all your business data is correct on your Google business page
  2. If you haven’t started using Google+ then perhaps you should give it a whirl
  3. Focus on getting some good reviews

Another element you might like to think about is Google Adwords Express as these are also highlighted on the maps.
